God, Can We Chat? by Niki Hardy

Today, Roberta talks to Niki Hardy about her new book God, Can We Chat?: A Daringly Honest Guide to Growing Closer to God, One Doubt at a Time, available from Revell publishers. When we find ourselves at the crossroads of doubt and faith, distant from God and worried our faith is slipping away, it's hard to know where to turn. Some books tell you why your faith still holds true, and despite your growing unease, they insist you hold on to and even find certainty in what you've been taught. This isn't one of those books. Yes, our questions hold power. But rather than destroying or weakening our faith, they build and strengthen it--one honest chat at a time. God, Can We Chat? invites you to take Jesus at his word when he calls you to come as you are right now--a doubting believer or perhaps even a believing doubter--to experience the intimacy and rest your soul craves in the midst of fear, doubt, anger, or confusion. Rather than attempting to answer all your questions or settle ongoing theological debates, author Niki Hardy helps you see doubts not as the end of your faith but as the beginning of an honest and fearless relationship with God--the one who is not threatened by our questions and who calls us not to unwavering belief but unrelenting love.Discover the latest Christian books and meet the authors behind them on Author's Corner, where Roberta Foster explores new releases in faith-based publishing. Safeguards School Curriculum, with Lynne Little

Today, Roberta talks to Lynne Little about her book Safeguards School Curriculum: Equipping Kids with Safety Skills, available from New Growth Press.Because child abuse occurs even in faith-based communities, the Safeguards School Curriculum for elementary-aged students teaches children how to assess and respond to potentially unsafe situations and people.  This six-unit curriculum teaches elementary grades abuse awareness and prevention from a biblical worldview, based on the principles in the book Safeguards, by family counselor Julie Lowe. Written by Lowe, Lynne Little, and Angela Ruiz, all with extensive experience in counseling, education, and curriculum formation, the curriculum emphasizes scriptural truth as the foundation for developing the wisdom and discernment needed by children to be safe. The curriculum is divided into two age levels (K–grade 2 and grades 3–5) and employs stories, puppets, role plays, crafts, and a variety of hands-on activities to teach about wisdom and discernment. Topics addressed include learning to say no, respect and privacy, being lost, and bullying.  Offers a biblical understanding of both the dangers children face and God’s power to overcome.  Each lesson includes a take-home paper to educate and equip parents to continue the conversations started at school. First school-based curriculum that combines child safety training with a biblical worldview.  Can be used in children’s ministry and homeschool co-op settings. Developed in partnership with the Evangelical Council for Abuse Prevention, which provides awareness, accreditation, and resources to Christian organizations who are serving children.  Discover the latest Christian books and meet the authors behind them on Author's Corner, where Roberta Foster explores new releases in faith-based publishing. No Matter What, by Jill Baughan

Today, Roberta talks to Jill Baughan about her new book No Matter What: 90 Devotions for Experiencing Unexpected Joy in Tough Times, available from Our Daily Bread publishers. When I was a child, the Tilt-A-Whirl at my hometown’s annual street fair taught me this life-changing truth: it is entirely possible for a human being to laugh and throw up at the same time.Little did I know that years later, when I was a grown-up, God would use this revelation to show me—on a deeper level—that joy and sorrow can occupy the same space, that they can walk (or hurl) alongside each other on the same road. We just have to be intentional about drawing from the joy while we’re going through the tough stuff. In other words, when it comes to deep delight that feeds your soul, you are not at the mercy of your circumstances. You have the choice to direct your mind’s focus toward joy.And that, my friend, is very good news. Jill Baughan invites you into her laughter-filled world through stories like this that remind you that we can experience sincere joy even in the tough parts of life. You’ll relate to her genuine and often humorous storytelling in these 90 heartfelt devotions that encourage you to find joy . . . no matter what. Discover the latest Christian books and meet the authors behind them on Author's Corner, where Roberta Foster explores new releases in faith-based publishing. Secure: A Healthy Attachment to God, by Kenza Haddock

Today, Roberta talks to Kenza Haddock about her new book Secure: How to Have a Healthy Attachment to God (Hope and Healing), available from Aspire Press publishers.Having a strong, healthy relationship with God is foundational to enjoying every aspect of life. In Kenza Haddock’s work as a trauma and pastoral counselor, she discovered that her clients’ anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders were often the result of a distorted view of God’s character. They had developed an insecure attachment to God.In clinical psychology, attachment theory focuses on how the emotional bonds we form in childhood influence how we approach our relationships with others. Secure takes a look at how this theory applies to our relationship with God. When God created us, he intended that he would be our primary attachment above all else. It is only after we have established a secure relationship with him that we can cultivate healthy relationships with others. In this book, readers will learn to recognize the signs of an unhealthy attachment with God. As they study foundational truths about God and their identity in Christ, they will gain essential tools for maintaining a secure attachment with God. The outcome will be a life characterized by hope, healing, and fulfilling relationships.Discover the latest Christian books and meet the authors behind them on Author's Corner, where Roberta Foster explores new releases in faith-based publishing. The Alternative to Abortion, by Roland C. Warren

Today, Roberta talks to Roland Warren about his new book The Alternative to Abortion: Why We Must be Pro Abundant Life. After the overturning of Roe v. Wade in June of 2022, many pro-life Americans --- especially Christians – began asking, “Now what?” In the more than two years that have passed since that momentous Supreme Court decision, the pro-life movement has provided a variety of answers. But as these (sometimes conflicting) answers have been tested and debated, Americans, when given the option, have chosen more abortions and more pro-choice laws, not fewer.Against this backdrop, Roland C. Warren, president and CEO of Care Net, one of the nation’s largest and oldest pro-life ministries, lays out his unique vision for the future of the pro-life movement in this groundbreaking book, The Alternative to Abortion: Why We Must be Pro Abundant Life. In it, Warren weaves together his personal story, timeless Biblical truths, American history, and the latest social science to make a clear and compelling case for why being pro-life is no longer enough – and how a new pro abundant life approach is what has been needed all along to truly vanquish abortion.Discover the latest Christian books and meet the authors behind them on Author's Corner, where Roberta Foster explores new releases in faith-based publishing.
